J D Young Composite Albacore 5804.
"Jonick" was built by J D Young boatbuilders of Fishbourne Isle of Wight in 1974.
I bought her off Gordon Frickers when he built himself a new Albacore.
We used to race them from the Mayflower Sailing club Plymouth.
Jonick was raced in the Worlds and Gordon said she was Third. She is a fast old lady when properly set up. I managed third in the Port of Plymouth regatta ( see photos) I am now 74 and Jonick is under dust covers in my garage. I redecked her myself and claim only a sound if unglamorous job.
She goes very well light airs and planes well in a decent breeze. She would suit a younger enthusiast very well . The Trailer is very sound. She would not do well if overwintered under covers. It would give me great pleasure to see her used again.
